Eric spearheaded a short trip to the Driftless region on Wisconsin, our second such fly-fishing expedition as adults after hiking off the Skyline Drive for native Appalachian brook trout. Here we expected browns, and we found them.
Our rental house was perfectly pastoral- the property included an active cow pasture and a stream in which all three of us caught brown trout.
Both Eric and Corey used western fly rods- I think they had 3 and 4 wts, but just as in the first trip I was committed to tenkara, which seemed more appropriate than my 5wt on the small streams we expected.
We had good weather both days, and fished a handful of streams within about an hour of our cabin.
